Hard wind worn grass grows by the beach at Wine Strand in Co. Kerry. I think this is perfect in black and white.
The blue sky was amazing but the light and shadow of the grass stands out against the uniform background.

I shot my first sports stuff in ages yesterday. A few of us from Mallow Camera Club made it to the Cobh Ramblers game against Dundalk and had free reign to walk around the perimeter of the football pitch.
I was almost hit a few times by the ball, including one time near the goal when I was zooming in on the action, with the camera in burst mode. I spotted the ball heading my way in the frame and stepped to the side a lit second before the ball landed where I was standing. Phew. Got the pic too :)
More about the day’s shooting during the week!

Mom and daughter hurry past on Panna after shopping in Adams Kids.

In the background is the old Dunnes Stores which has been pulled down leaving the front facing of the building and a wide swath of destruction and deconstruction behind it extending to Emmet Place.

Cross processed in the GIMP with the curves tool.

PS. Thanks to Gamma for mentioning the exhibition in Mallow too. All links and publicity are greatly appreciated!

The shadow cast by a young man waiting to cross the street forms the main subject of this unusual image. Sort of messes with your head doesn’t it?

An expired meter I spotted while we waited for a table to become free in a restaurant in San Francisco a few blocks from Union Square.

Photo has been "cross processed" using the Curves tool. I created an S curve on the red and green channels, and then applied a lomo plugin for good effect!

This camera belongs to Alkos, who I met on Monday night and it’s what he shoots everything on his photoblog with. He and his girlfriend had gone to the bar and I decided I liked the draughts board pattern on the table and composed this still life.

A sticker on the back of a STOP sign reads, “Sometimes I just miss talking to you” and is signed “The 508″. A message of love for someone missing, or mindless graffiti? What makes the image for me is the couple walking by at the bottom of the frame. The sticker could be a speech bubble above their heads.

Shot on Oliver Plunkett Street a few month’s back while walking around Cork City.

PS. Welcome all from Creative Ireland!

I spotted this sticker on the pier at Currabinny, Co. Cork. I have no idea what “Absolutely, Crazy - Cowes’05″ refers to and a quick bit of research didn’t show up anything.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

A modified car sits parked in front of the Carroll’s Quay car park in Cork. The distinctive logo on the wing reminds me of the Transformers.

Maybe the driver is a fan?

After a particularly grueling few hours traipsing around the shops in Cork I was on my way to Vibes and Scribes in Bridge Street when I spotted an empty can of Bulmers in front of the purple doors of an old building on Camden Place. In fact it’s the front door of the Cork Rape Crisis Centre. Obviously a drunk had taken shelter in the doorway the previous night.

Yes, that’s my shadow in the door!
PS. thank you so much for the comments yesterday. Rest assured, the donkey will be returning to a screen near you!

The Tour Bus just left without me! An open top bus brings tourists around the city, where to? I’m not sure, I’ve never taken it!

This was on Grand Parade about 9 months ago. The plastic dividers in the middle of the street are now gone and where that bus is driving is now pavement, with the odd road works still going on.
