Cobh boats and cathedral

tied to the quay in Cobh, Co. . is visible in the background. I could have removed that wire but it was a pain to get the details of the Cathedral in.

Adam O Caoimh, year one

Adam O Caoimh

I couldn’t let today go by without posting some of our little boy on his first birthday! Happy birthday son! Mom and Dad love you to bits. Hopefully you won’t be too embarrassed by this post in years to come!

He’s grown up so fast in front of our eyes and developing into a proper little boy it’s amazing. I’d hardly recognise the tiny little baby he was just a year ago.

Blarney on April 20th, 2008

Sunday, April 20th, 2008 by Donncha

is 1 tomorrow so we went out for lunch this afternoon. I really shouldn’t have had that chocolate cheescake. Yum though. was full of tourists wandering everywhere. The infamous “invulnerability zone” all tourists feel around them makes driving very hazardous, especially in the grounds of Woollen Mills.

We had a party for later and our families called over to celebrate. I finally played 4 player Mario Kart on the Wii with Donal, Cathal and Mike and it was great fun!

Great ball of flame

Great ball of flame

over a few days ago. There was a thin layer of on the horizon that nicely blocked out much of the light of the allowing me to capture this early .

It’s amazing to think that the light we see takes 8 minutes to travel the immense distance between the and Earth. What’s even more remarkable is the thousands of years a photon can spend zinging back and forth inside the before emerging as heat and light.

Cork City Streets on April 19, 2008

Saturday, April 19th, 2008 by Donncha

This is an experiment. I am hoping to post (almost) every photo I take as small 400px wide images using the new gallery function in WordPress 2.5.

These posts won’t appear in the feed because of the number of thumbnails Feedreaders won’t see the gallery, and only an excerpt will be shown on the homepage if I’ve got my snippets of code right. It’s not polite to shove 90+ images down the throats of subscribers IMO! You’ll have to view the actual post to see the thumbnails.

Out of these images, I think there’s maybe 2 or 3 that I’ll work on and post later. Hopefully this gallery may provide a context to those I work on and publish later. At the very least you’ll see that I take a lot of of nothing in particular! :)

Oh yes, I got my lens back today. Only took 5 months to repair! Thanks Sigma!

Exit

exit

This way to the EXIT. This is a in in . Can you imagine how enticing it would be to get out of a building after spending a year inside there?

Declan from O’Learys rang this . Good news. He got on to the boss at the Sigma repair company who told him my lens had been fixed all along and it was going to be dispatched today. Sounds like a load of bullshit to me, and
they were fobbing off anyone who rang from O’Learys making inquiries. There was €40 still left on the bill, but O’Learys have waived that in view of the length of time it took. I’m still <em>very</em> annoyed at their antics with my though.
